Overview
The New York Federation (NYF), also called Noumea York Federacion, is a Micronation based in Michigan with counties and territories across the Midwest and Northeast United States. It was originally founded in Downstate New York as an illiberal democracy, later transitioning into a constitutional monarchy. The NYF declared independence from the United States on September 18, 2022. The nation is officially secular but recognizes a state religion.
The NYF is the successor to the former Independent Republic of New York. Its early history included political instability and several attempted coups. Growth began in November 2022, with a rising population and new territories joining.
Monticello is the most populated mainland region, holding around 40% of the nation’s population. Today, the NYF includes seven counties and two territories across North America. The government operates as a constitutional monarchy, led by King Nafe A since its founding. The legislature, known as the New York Federation Congress, is a unicameral body made up of two chambers.
