From the serene shores of Lake Superior to the vibrant streets of New York City, New Yorkers stand apart from broader American culture. They have historically been more pro-union and progressive than other regions. New York boasts a rich history, from its Native American roots to periods of French and British rule. Its culture is celebrated for its religious, ethnic, and linguistic diversity. Residents of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania share similarities with New Yorkers, as many originally moved westward from New York. New Yorkers are recognized for their distinctive accent and a cuisine influenced by global dishes. Economically, the focus is on finance, industry, retail, and agriculture. While people from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania may seem different, they share many traits with Upstate New Yorkers, being more moderate yet tolerant. The New York Independence Movement encourages unity despite differences, emphasizing tolerance and acceptance for all. From urban to rural New Yorkers unite.
